Millington Quarry, New Jersey. Geology and Mineralogy

Johan Maertens presents a visuals supported program about the geology and mineral collecting at the former Millington quarry in New Jersey where quarry owners allowed mineral collecting occasionally to local rock and mineral clubs. 

Although this quarry received less attention than the historic Paterson and Prospect Park localities, similar world-class trap rock mineral specimens from the Millington quarry can be seen on display at the Smithsonian and the American Museum of Natural History museums.

Johan dug crystals at the quarry and will share his collecting experiences with us.

In addition to photographs, he will have a selection of beautiful specimens to show us. Come and see old and new discoveries for yourself.

Guests are most welcome at our meetings, and this program will be great for folks of every age.
